laaaooooorrrraaaaahhhhh

Ok ok ok, so it has been awhile since I have posted; however, this post is definitely worth it! My friend Laura is about to graduate in May from Texas Tech as a Biology major. We have been waiting on the perfect weather, and SCORE, we finally got it! I have known her for awhile through dance at Tech. I hope we captured her energy on camera! Congrats Laura!

THE NEWLYWEDS!

This past weekend I was excited to photograph a good friend of mine, Morgie, and her fiance, Garett. Morgan and I went to Junction two summers ago together and went through the Wyman experience with many other talented photographers. Since then we have kept in touch and I was super excited to find out these two were getting hitched!

Morgan and Garett will be getting married in July, so more exciting photos to come! Congratulations you guys!

DanceTech: Artistry In Motion 2010

Today DanceTech commences and will last through Sunday. At the rehearsals, I have been taking a few photos for the dancers. Here is a peek at what everyone should come witness first hand. The dancers have been working super hard to guarantee a great show, and trust me, you won't be disappointed.

There will be teacher and student choreography presented. This past semester I choreographed my own dance coupled with an experimental stop/motion video. I encourage anyone and everyone to come by and see Texas Tech University's dance production.

The concert will be at Maedgen Theatre on Tech campus.

Wednesday (sneak peek) @ 8pm (bring student ID and get in free)
Thursday-Saturday @ 8pm
Sunday @ 2 pm

All tickets are $12, with a student ID $5.

Boudoir Sessions...

Hope the new year is starting well for everyone! As of late, I have added a new entity to my collection: boudoir photography. I have been transforming the spare bedroom in my house into a makeshift studio, which means a larger variety of portraiture. I am especially excited about introducing a sexy, yet tasteful side to my photography for anyone who is interested.

So I had my friend, Naomi (a gorgeous model), pose for me to give you a little peek at what boudoir photography is all about. I know you expected this, but Valentine's Day is approaching ladies... Call or email me and we will set up a shoot! Even if boudoir is not your thing, I'm sure we can find something that will suit you! Cheers!

One More Week

In one week I'll be dressed in cap and gown...

It's hard to believe my undergraduate studies will be coming to a finish, however I am eager to move on to the next step. I'm planning on working in Lubbock after graduation.

I want to give a warm thanks to everyone who has made an impact in my life.

To my peers, keep working diligently for that diploma and remember it is important to create a community of people who share your interests. My top reason for going to college was because I wanted to surround myself around people who were eager to learn.

To my mentors, it takes a devoted individual to praise youth and push talent where it needs to go, and I am forever thankful to have encouragement from those who work out of altruism.

To my family, you guys are my drive. My brother, Josey, is the most selfless, hard-working, benevolent person I know. Thank you Paco, you are an inspiration to all. And to my mom and to my dad. I am proud to receive this diploma because it is a representation of how hard my parents have worked to put my brother and I through school. It is a representation of how my parents supported my decisions and pushed me to succeed with excellence.

Graduation is not about receiving a piece of paper, it is about all of the people involved who helped you get to that place. Do not forget these people.

Photographer Bart Babinski defined a photographer as a "writer of light." That's what I am set to be.

With love,
K.

.leaves are a fallin'

Over the weekend, Ashley and I went out to campus and the depot to take her senior portraits. We were able to catch the last bit of autumn scenery before all the leaves fall off the trees around Lubbock. I have known Ashley awhile now through dance, and it's hard to believe that we will both be graduating in a month. Congratulations Ashley and keep dancing!

.lamplighter

Wine, lamps and eyeliner. These are the essential, not so essential tools in producing artistic work. I needed a break from a required photography session. This is the stuff I crave to shoot.

Amanda, thanks for being an incredible model. It's always nice to step back and remember why I chose photography as a prominent component in my life, aaand it's always nice to know that my camera is not just a tool, but merely an observer of the moment at hand. Cheers!
